Te Puia Trip

We had an amazing trip to Te Puia on Monday 19th June as part of our learning on Matariki. Thank you to all our parent helpers that joined us on the trip - Kate Davey, Taare Meredith, Senila Savage, Charles Kelly, Susie Manson and Whaea Layla.

We were lucky enough to participate in the powhiri and be invited into the wharenui for a concert. Some of our tamariki were able to go up on stage to perform the poi and haka.

We also watched a show about Matariki where we learnt about the nine stars of Matariki and we were taught a hand game to help us remember all of them.

We then walked around Te Puia to look at all the geothermal activity. We stopped by the Pohutu geyser to perform the haka and a waiata. There were many tourists watching including a few Lions supporters. They loved watching our performance.

Lastly, we walked around the Ta Moko, weaving and carving schools.
