It was about a girl called Mia who had the talent of talking to animals. Her and her best friend Hoiho became heroes for all the animals in the world. They came across a letter from a mother sloth called Consuela who was concerned her son Carlos was lost in Venezuela. They visit Kiwi who thinks Patu, the cheeky patupaerehe is behind it. Kiwi and Mia go to Venezuela to try and catch Patu. Kiwi and Mia fall for many of Patu's tricks but they eventually capture him when he tries to impersonate the mighty Tāne Mahuta. They find out Patu is lonely and Carlos is his new friend. They make amends and the trio travel back to New Zealand to see Hoiho.
The show promotes Māori language and also incorporates some Spanish. We really enjoyed how the actors were able to change their voices and loved learning some new vocabulary.
