Well done Joel. It has been a tough week for you, but I am very impressed you stuck at this to get it completed. You are nearly at a relational level, but you need to demonstrate your understanding of the effects of climate change a bit further. Your causes are very well written and show a strong understanding of how we are contributing to climate change. Next time, remember there are plenty of resources in the classroom to help you.

Well done Haare. You worked very hard to ensure you got this finished in time. You are at a multistructural level as you have many reasons to explain the causes and effects of climate change To get to relational, I’d like to see you be able to explain the causes of climate change in more detail. For example, you could explain how the increase in gases is contributing to the greenhouse effect.

STEM Challenge!
This morning the students completed a STEM challenge. A STEM challenge combines science, technology, engineering and mathematics and requires the students to challenge each other to create a successful product.
Today the challenge was to build a bridge that could hold the most amount of weight as well as look aesthetically pleasing. A reward was on the line to be the winning team! The students were split into 6 groups of 4. They were given a planning sheet in which they had to research, imagine and design their product, and at the end they had to explain the outcome and write an evaluation.
The only resources the students had to make the bridge with was 1m of masking tape, 30 iceblock sticks and 30cm of electrical tape to secure the bridge to the table.

The winning team managed to hold 950gm on their bridge. This was Scarlett, Gleb, Kauri and Aaliyah. The second place team held 600gm and three teams held 500gm. There was one team that was eliminated as they did not finish in the allocated time.
