Descriptive Writing - St John's Church Fire

On Monday 13th February, Paul (Whaea Sarah's husband) came into class to talk to us about the fire at St John's church. As he described the fire, we wrote notes about what we saw and we remembered to include powerful adjectives. We also wrote why we thought it was like that and some things that it makes us wonder. We were so interested in what Paul had to say from a fireman's perspective that we hardly wanted to go to lunch! We used a SOLO describe ++ map the next day to help us plan our writing. A handful of students have published their final copy to the blog. We are so proud of our descriptions!

  1. What a fantastic opportunity to have a visit from Paul and listen to his perspective as a fireman. Very sad what has happened to St John's, however, it was very nice to read the stories from some of the students in A1 and their thoughts and best wishes for the church in the future.
